- The escapade’s videos went viral, giving everyone a much-needed chuckle at the sight of alpacas on a field trip.
Cedar Point is known for its roller coasters, but on this day the real headliners were alpacas on the loose. In a scene straight out of a cartoon, three woolly alpacas decided to take a break from the petting zoo and explore the park on their own terms. Families in line for funnel cakes did double-takes as the friendly fugitives meandered past – perhaps looking for the alpaca-lypse coaster or just a snack. Visitors couldn’t believe their eyes (or their luck) as they captured video of the chill trio sauntering down the midway, utterly unfazed by the amazed humans around them.
Park employees quickly jumped into action, but not with panic – with grins and gentle guidance. Within minutes, the wandering alpacas were calmly corralled by staff and returned to their petting zoo home, likely after deciding the rides were a bit too intense for camelids. No alpacas were harmed in this mini adventure; in fact, they seemed to enjoy their brief taste of freedom. The park later joked on social media that the alpacas were just “checking wait times” for the roller coasters. Their impromptu outing brought joy to everyone who witnessed it – and to millions more who watched the viral clips and laughed at these unexpected thrill-seekers.
